STOREBRON, BRIDGE IN ÄNGELHOLM

 

 

Competition proposal for a new bridge in Ängelholm, when the existing one, Pyttebron, is to be demolished.

The existing Pyttebrons classic profile and characteristics have made it characteristic of both the Pyttebro area and Ängelholm and these characteristicswe want to capture andpreserve i Storebron, but cast about in a more stylized and contemporary form.

 

In addition to that, by making room for both cars, pedestrian and cycle paths, we hope to be able to increase accessibility, develop communication and improve the quality of life for everyone in the area. When a dear part of the area is lifted away, it is important that it allowed to be reflected in the new added andrising from the original foundation already in place.

The clear pattern in the original bridge's trusses is refined in white lacquered steel which makes the new construction a graphic landmark for both the area and the city, clearly contrasting with the surroundings but with the classic and appreciated character intact.
